It The LG Dishwasher Error Code E1 means that there is water leakage in the Unit. In most cases, the running drain pump is not able to get enough back pressure to operate the LG dishwasher properly. Your dishwasher will show the E1 error when there is the formation of excessive suds that overflow into the bottom of the dishwasher. There can be many reasons that may be causing this problem. We will be checking each one by one in this article.
How To Fix LG Dishwasher Error Code E1
LG has specially programmed the dishwasher to show the E1 error code whenever it detects that the drain pump is running,, but it is not getting enough back pressure that it needs. You need to find the cause of the leak and fix it to solve this problem.
Causes of E1 Error Code
- The LG dishwasher is not installed correctly.
- Using the wrong type of detergent in the dishwasher.
- Using too much detergent.
- Dishes are not loaded correctly.
- LG dishwasher is not properly closed or there is a leak in it.
- Sump motor is malfunctioning.
- Float assembly is faulty.
- The sump is leaking water.
So, you need to determine the cause of the leak and then fix the issue.
Resetting E1 Error Code
First, try the initial troubleshoot and try to reset the error code. It will make the error go away if it’s only a temporary problem.
- Switch OFF the dishwasher by pressing the POWER button.
- Wait for 10-15 seconds.
- Switch ON the dishwasher by pressing the POWER button.
- Run a new wash cycle.
Hopefully, now the error is not happening again. If you still get the error, then you need to check the internal components of the dishwasher.
Check the Drain Hose
You need to check the drain hose and ensure that water is flowing without any disruption through it. If you observe that the hose is installed lower than the dishwasher base, then it may cause a scenario in which water will drain early from the drain hose.
You must ensure that the drain hose is installed at least 10 inches from the lower part of the LG dishwasher. This positioning will help to stop the water from leaking before the wash cycle ends. You need to put the hose a little bit up and fix it near the wall so that it should not go below the bottom of the dishwasher.
We also suggest you scrutinize the drain hose for any sign of damage. If the tube is bent or kinked, then straighten it. Remove the drain hose and supply water through it. If you see any water leak from the surface, then buy a new drain hose and replace the old one.
Also, if there is clogging due to food particles and debris, then remove it. Many times large food particles, plastic can get stuck inside the hose and hence can cause disruption in water drainage. We also suggest you check the seal and clamps and ensure that they are airtight, and there is no visible water leaking signs.
Ensure that Door is Not Leaking
If you see that when you run the dishwasher, there is some water dripping out from the door, then you have to check the door for any leakage. Inspect the edges of entry and make sure that there is wear or tear in the door seal. If you find the damaged door seal, then we suggest you replace it.
Even if you find the smallest of leaks, it’s better to fix it as even this can cause the E1 Error Code. You need to replace the door seal when the dishwasher is OFF. Also, check there is no air gap between the rubber seal and door. If it is there, then you need to tighten it.
Check Valve and Water Sensor
Please check the valve and water sensor. Ensure that It is working perfectly. If you find any damage or rust on it, then it is better to replace them with a new one.
The water sensor’s main function is to detect the water in the tub. You can locate it near the pallet at the same place where AquaStop is located. If the valve is damaged or the water sensor is faulty, then it will be unable to stop the water from leakage. The control panel will detect the defective signal, and hence the drain pump will not start. It, in turn, will trigger the AquaStop protection.
We suggest you replace the water valve and sensor. It should eliminate the LG Dishwasher Error Code E1 in most of the cases.
Dishes are not Loaded Correctly
It may look like you have put the dishes correctly in the dishwasher but maybe you are wrong. Many times dishes won’t properly be aligned and hence provide obstruction when washing the dishes.
This will give the E1 Error. You may also get other types of errors as well in the LG dishwasher. Please ensure the following things when loading the dishes.
- If you are washing large utensils, then make sure to put them carefully so that no to disrupt spinning arms.
- The positioning of large pans or pots is critical as it can stop the spray of water and deflect it to the place where water will not drain out.
- There should be no water left in the big utensils.
We recommend you read the User’s manual, and from there, you will get to know how to place the dishes in the dishwasher properly.
Using a Wrong Type of Detergent
Ensure that you are using the correct type of detergent for washing the dishes. Using incorrect detergent or using too much/little detergent can lead to the LG Dishwasher Error Code E1.
Read the LG user manual to know what type of detergent to use in the LG dishwasher. A wrong detergent will cause the formation of excessive suds, which may leak to the bottom of the dishwasher. So, it is better to know how to use detergent properly.
If you observe a considerable amount of the suds forming in the bottom, then it is a good indication that there is a wrong/excessive detergent problem. Usually, this error will happen as soon as the dishwasher starts or within 2 minutes of starting the dishwasher.
Faulty Float and Sump Assembly
If you have checked all the options given above and still you are getting Error Code E1, then you have to check the pump assembly. Remove the sum or float assembly and check for any sign of damage.
Use a multimeter to check if the pump is in good condition. You also need to check the wiring connection and ensure that it is not broken or burnt. Replace the faulty wire with a new one. Sometimes you may have to replace the whole pump assembly.
Since the process can be very complicated, hence we suggest you take the help of any repair technician who can help you in solving the issue.
