The LG Dishwasher Error Code FE means indicates to the WATER FILL ERROR. The Dishwasher has detected excess water in the tub, and so the drain pump automatically turns ON to remove excess water. If you are getting the FE error, then don’t worry as we have given a complete solution on how to fix the problem. Usually, the error can be easily reset by turning OFF and on the dishwasher, but in a few cases, you may have to check internal components to fix the issue.
How To Fix LG Dishwasher Error Code FE
There are several things you can do to fix the error. As will any error, You need to identify what is causing the problem. Let’s see some of the causes.
Main Causes
- Control panel malfunction.
- Failure of Aquastop System.
- Faulty Inlet Valve.
- Broken or kinked drain hose.
- Worn-out seal.
- Malfunctioning pressure switch.
Sometimes, the control panel may malfunction temporarily and hence display the wrong error code. Switching ON and OFF the dishwasher can reset the error. Let’s see the steps on how to do it.
Reset the Error Code FE
- Turn the LG dishwasher OFF by pressing the power button.
- Remove the power cord for 10 seconds.
- You need to Plug-In the LG dishwasher again.
- Turn off the dishwasher by pressing the POWER button again.
- Test the issue by starting a new wash cycle.
In most cases, it should resolve the LG Dishwasher Error Code FE. But in a few cases, you might have to check the internal components. So let’s begin.
Inspect the Water Hose
You need to inspect the hose and see if it is broken or kinked. Ensure that the hoses are installed correctly, and there is no leak at both ends. Also, if you see that door is bent then please straight it. The broken hose should be replaced with a new one.
Ensure that door is Closed
Please make sure that the door is closed properly, and there is no gap in it from which water may leaks. If the door is loosely closed, then close it tightly.
Failure of the AquaStop Protection System
All new LG dishwasher comes with the Advanced AquaStop protection system. The main function of this system is to protect the dishwasher from sudden water leaks. So whenever the water leaks into the bottom of the LG dishwasher, it will activate the protective switch. The Aqua sensor will now send the signal to the control module to start the drain pump to remove the excess water. It will help in draining the water from the bottom of the dishwasher.
But sometimes the Aqua Protection System fails or becomes faulty. When this happens, the water will not drain, and you will get the FE error in your dishwasher display panel. It can be due to many reasons, such as the wrong detection of water and other issues.
If your Aqua Stop system is based on mechanical parts, then you can easily fix it by installing a new hose. But, if the Protective system is of electronic type, then you have to follow the below steps.
- Switch OFF the dishwasher.
- Shut down the water supply.
- Remove the dish rack.
- Remove the bottom panel by unscrewing the screws.
- You can find the Aqua sensor inside the bottom panel.
- Remove the sensor cover.
- Disconnect the sensor’s wiring with the help of a screwdriver.
- Install the correct leak sensor for your dishwasher model number.
Faulty Inlet Valve
You may get the error code FE due to a faulty inlet valve. The inlet valve has a solenoid that works on the close and open electricity path principle. When the pressure switch sends the signal to the inlet valve to open, it will open. Many times due to excessive usage, it may get short circuits or get damaged. When this happens, then you will get the draining issue. So, to check the inlet valve, please do the following steps.
- Switch OFF the LG dishwasher.
- Shut down the inlet water supply.
- You need to close the stop valve now.
- Start the dishwasher and see if you can hear the drain pump noise.
- Pull the plug out.
- Now you need to stop the water supply again by removing the inlet hose.
- Carefully remove the filter screen.
- Now you will have access to the inlet valve.
- Take a multimeter and check the resistance between the terminal. You should get a resistance between 500 to 1500 Ohms.
- Also, clear any clogging inside the inlet valve.
If you find the inlet valve is faulty, then please replace it with a new one.
Faulty Pressure Switch
The main function of the pressure switch is to send the signal to the control board about how much water is there in the tub. If the pressure switch becomes faulty, then it will send the wrong message to the dishwasher and hence water will not drain.
You need to take a multimeter to test the pressure switch. Check if it’s giving the correct value of resistance. Also, make sure that when you are testing the pressure switch, it should give a clicking sound.
If it fails the resistance test, then you need to replace it with a new one.
Faulty Electronic Board
Many times the electronic board can become damaged and will not work properly. The electronic board controls how the parts operate in the dishwasher. They may get bunt due to power surge, or the water may leak into the electronic board. So due to moisture, the short circuit will happen, and it will become faulty.
We recommend replacing the faulty electronic board with a new one.
Pump Seal is Worn Out
Many times the drain filling problem can be due to the worn-out pump seal. If the pump seal is unable to stop the water from leaking, then water will go to the bottom panel. Check that there is no leakage in the circulation pump. Many times you need to replace the whole drain pump unit with a new one to solve this issue. We suggest you take the help of an expert when inspecting the circulation pump as it requires more experience.
We hope that we can solve your problem. We have also given the solution for Error Code OE on our website. Please check it out as well.
