The LG Dishwasher Error Code AE means that the dishwasher is leaking water. This is often due to the excessive suds that overflow into the base of the LG dishwasher. There can be many other reasons for this issue as well. We will be investigating all the malfunctions that cause the AE Error.
How To Fix LG Dishwasher Error Code AE
If you see the LG manual for error reason, It will show that the AE error is due to the formation of excessive foam in the dishwasher’s tub. This can happen when you pour the wrong detergent or pour more than the standard quantity of detergent for cleaning the dishes. You may also get an E1 error along with it. There can be other reasons too. Let’s look at them.
The manufacturer provides information that this error often occurs due to excessive foaming in the tub. You may have got a wrong dishwasher detergent, or the amount of the detergent was excessive. But not only these factors may cause the code to appear.
Possible reasons for AE Error
Let’s look at possible reasons for which dishwasher is leaking water, and you are getting the error in the display panel.
- Wrong Type of Detergent.
- Using a large quantity of detergent that may produce excessive foam.
- The tub is broken, and hence water leaks out.
- Mesh Filter is Clogged.
- The hose is broken or is loose.
- The dishwasher’s bottom panel is broken or damaged.
Filter is Clogged
check whether mesh filter clogged or not. Please do the below steps to determine it.
- Switch off the Dishwasher.
- Close the water supply.
- Open the dishwasher door.
- Remove the screw from the bottom panel.
- You can find the mesh filter at the bottom panel.
- Pull the filter out.
- Rinse the filter under running water. Make sure that you remove all the stuck food particles and debris from it.
- You can also use a brush to clean the filter.
- Place the filter back. If you see that filter is damaged, then replace it.
If you are still getting the issue, then proceed to the next step.
Clogged or Broken Hose
If your dishwasher is leaking from the bottom, then it might be due to the broken or damaged hose. You need to check if the hose’s seal is cracked or become loose. Check if any water is pouring from the crack or near the hose’s end.
If your dishwasher is old, then due to long usage, the hose can wear out, and its seal will become less strong. You need to either apply tape to stop the leaking of water. But we suggest you replace the old hose with a new one.
Many times the hose can get clogged from large food particles, plastic, etc. You need to remove the hose and clean it properly. Ensure that the water is flowing without disruption through the hose. It is better to replace the hose and seal time to time so that you never face this issue in the future.
Check the Door and Pump Seals
Another reason that you will get the water at the bottom of the dishwasher is that either door is loose or the pump seal is broken. If the door latch is poor condition, it can get damaged easily, or it can be bent or kinked. So water can leak through the pipe and into the bottom pan.
As we know, the rubber seals are there to protect any leakage of water. If they are worn out due to excessive usage, the water will leak, and you will get the LG Dishwasher Error Code AE. If you observe that seals are unstable, then buy a new or and replace the damaged seal. You can do the below steps to do it.
- Switch Off the Dishwasher.
- Shut down the water supply.
- Open the dishwasher’s door.
- Now remove the seals that you find. Please be very careful not to rip them.
- Replace the worn-out seal with a new one.
We also suggest you replace the bottom door seal as water may leaks out from it. Please follow the below instruction.
- Switch Off the Dishwasher.
- Shut down the water supply.
- Use a screwdriver to unscrew the bottom door.
- Remove the front panel.
- Please remove the bottom rack.
- Carefully remove the rubber seal that is under the bottom door.
- Replace the worn-out bottom seal with a new one.
Faulty Spray Arm
Many times the spray arm will not work correctly, and it will spray the water unevenly. If this happens that water will not be scattered at the correct place and hence will leaks out. Check the orientation of the spray arm, and if it’s not an incorrect position, then correct it.
Also, as all parts of the dishwasher, the spray arm can even get clogged from small food particles. If you are using hard water in the dishwasher, then the lime can form inside the spray-arm holes, and hence spray arm will not be able to spray water properly.
So, to correct it, please do the following steps.
- Power OFF the dishwasher.
- As always, make sure that the water supply is not ON.
- Take the spray arm out.
- Use a toothpick to clean the holes under running water.
- Ensure that you remove all the stuck particles.
- If the spray arm is faulty, then replace it.
Aquastop System is not Working.
Many modern LG dishwasher comes with an Aquastop System that helps in preventing water leaks. If the Aquastop system fails, then the water flow will not stop and will leak into the bottom of the dishwasher. Please check if its working or not. If it is not working, then install the new sensor.
